Tripod Question???

If you want the cheapest tripod that actually works pretty well you can't beat this:

It's $60. I bought a $160 tripod that was a lot worse than this...

I is light, ha s a very smooth head and comes with a nice bag... for 60 bucks... you can't really do much nor need heavy tripods with the GH1 anyway.

You could probably get a better head... this one had a very slow move (it's tight) but it is surprisingly smooth for this cheap.

Thanks for the suggestions. I live in NYC, so I will take a ride out to B and H and give the Pearstone a try. Looks pretty nice and that is the price I like to see for a B camera.

The One ATL suggested is probably the best tripod for the money. The same one is also sold by Libec as the TH-650, which I own.

I can too vouch for the Libec TH-650 - have been banging around mine for ten years, work still as new and unless the cheaper Manfrotto fluid heads it doesn't 'bounce' when stopping a pan or tilt.

Looks like they updated the Libec TH-650 to the Libec TH-650DV for $200.

+1. I have the Libec TH-M20 (discontinued?), and this looks like the same tripod. For a lightweight camera, it's plenty of support and it's light to carry. Best of all, it has a true bowl mount, so you can quickly level your shot by loosening the large grip under the head and twisting until you "bubble up". This looks like the least expensive system available that uses a bowl mount.

Yep.. it's the same. I like the quick snap clips for the legs. Very sturdy, they don't slip and easy/quick to set.

For the money ($150 at B&H) you can't beat it.
