FS7: Tripod Plate / Lip on bottom front of camera

Hello everyone,
As I build my perfect rig, my Metabones mount support is being hindered by this useless front lip that sticks out on the bottom of the camera. Before I start removing screws and such... Is it even possible to remove that little ledge? Has anyone else done this to their camera? Worried that I remove it, the bottom part of the camera will be exposed to the elements... Looks like they used pretty weak screws that strip easily, so hopefully I can remove it without too much headache.

Thanks,
Chris

I do believe the Speedbooster will work since the extra glass pushes it out from the camera. Does anyone have one that they can measure for me? I have just the plain one that came free with the camera.

I have the Nikon ULTRA speedbooster and all of the other mounts I've tried (Zacuto & SmallRig), won't get past the lip.

That lip is a bugger for most supports but for my metabones setup, I use this support: http://www.westsideavstore.com/index.php?p=product&id=109

Works perfectly to support the Metabones or I can screw it directly to the lens mount (if needed).
.

I bought that very support bracket and it works extremely well but I use it on my Nikon 70/200 zoom.
Seems to me the laws of physics make it more practical to support the lens at its heaviest point rather than close to the camera mount.

Here is my setup. You can see the lip forces the support down to the rods. But the Zacuto Baseplate Rod Mount has a lip on it that prevents the FS7 from coming all the way forward. It is an interesting setup. I would have sent it back but I was stupid and waited too long to set it up. My fault!

So, Chris, what was your solution?

(I'm using my FS7 with the Zacuto VCT and I'm using Canon 24-70 & Canon 70-200ll, both 2.8)

Both lenses via Metabones Speedbooster ULTRA. I don't use support for the 24-70, but I do add support for the 70-200 but using the Metabones "foot" would be great so I don't have to add support when switching lenses?

Thanks.
