Tripod, monopod, flowpod - What to do?

I recently got a brand new DVX100A. The only main accessory I need now is a good “pod”. Whether it be tri, mono, I’m not sure. I would like to spend no more than $350-$400 on it. I know this won’t get me a great, or possibly even a good one, but this is all the money I have right now.

I’m wondering that with only that much to spend a tripod might not be the best thing for me right now. I love doing hand-held work, but need some more stabilization.

What would your recommendations be?

Get a regular Tripod. Period.

Once you have the camera solid on the ground, then you can start considering how to move it...

You can get a preaty decet basic Manfrotto/Bogen tripod for $350.

We have a Bogen monopod with a ball head that we never use except to shoot our digital nikon with a long lens attached. We bought a shoulder brace mount from Varizoom and set our DVX to "OIS". That does the trick. We shoot wedding receptions on the fly with it. It works great and you get good stability. It cost us about $380 and has an ab support. It was well worth the money. However, we also have 2, 3221/501 Bogen tripods. You have to have a tripod for this camera.
