Hey guys, I have a Canon 7D and purchased the Slik 700 DX Tripod with 3 way tilt/pan shown here:

The tripod is good, but I notice I have a hard time getting a steady moving pan or tilt. I try to move it with my hand as smoothly as possible but I still get occasionally jerks or stops and it is not as smooth as I want it to be.
Questions:
I am assuming that I need to get a fluid head for my tripod to achieve this?
Is this the only option out there to achieve the smooth pan/tilt?
If this is correct, do I have to get a fluid head that is also made by Slik or will another brand be able to fit on the legs of my Slik tripod legs?
Do you guys have any recommendations of great tripod heads that I can use with my current legs that are under $100?
