Tripod for weddings shot with DSLrs

Hello,

I'm trying to find good tripod sticks to use for shooting weddings with a DSLR. I'm more used to traditional videocameras and those tripods.

Anyhow recently I tried out a set of Manfrotto sticks, I believe it was this model.

Maybe I just have to get used to it but I did not like them, spreading the three legs was kind of awkward I think due to a lack of a spreader. It seemed more difficult to get into sturdy positions quickly when changing angles.

I'm curious to hear others thoughts on this style of tripod as well as which one you recommend.

Why not get a "traditional" tripod then? If you like sticks with spreaders, then get one! I agree, the individual legs are fine for set-ups, but not run-and-gun. The Vinten Vision blue series is designed for lighter weight cameras, like DSLRs, and are more traditional sticks with spreaders. Sachtler also has quite the range of systems with different weight capacities, although I dislike their counterbalance system compared to Vinten and OConnor (but OConnor is way more expensive.)

BTW the
Vinten Vision Blue $1427

So the Sachtler Ace M would be a reasonable priced professional tripod for DSLR without much compromise.
