Hi again,

Would this tripod be able to support the $1000 kessler krane package?
Its the 503 hdv head with 525 tripod legs.

Or should I just order the K- pod (tripod) and hercules head ?

Thanks .

Don't mess around... spend the money and do it right...get the k-pod and Hercules 2 head! You will not be dissapointed.

...I did and I can't tell you how awesome it is! The k-pod easily supports 500lbs...it's just solid all around. Then you can get the swivel dolly wheels, some of the new flexitrack and the seat they are making...and you sir are IN business.

I LOVE all my Kessler stuff! (just got some of the flexitrack....I'll be using it next weekend for the first time)

I've got something worse than those 525 sticks and it supports the crane just fine with their hercules head or whatever it is. I think I have the 3246 sticks or something...

Either way, I don't think the sticks are the thing that matters too much unless you're going to use them for things other than crane use. If so, spend the money for something nice...if not, heck, just get something that'll work.

I've just gotten my K-Pod, 100mm head, dolly wheels & track, and as far as construction and overall support capabilities go - If I were you, I'd save up for the K-pod. It's worth it in every respect and you won't be disappointed. I had to ask them to hold the shipment because it was due to arrive the same day that Hurricane Ike came ashore. They contacted the shipping company (UPS I believe) and were understanding and helpful as far as service is concerned, which is a big plus in my book. I don't think you'd get that level of personal attention with B&H, although I've heard stories from both sides on service concerning them.

It will be more expensive than the 503/525 set you've posted a picture of above.

However, it's a solid set of sticks that will support your heaviest camera rig, crane or slider configuration and the dolly wheels are very well constructed. I believe they have a chair-rider option they're working on that might be available soon as well. There is really no part of this kit I've inspected so far that doesn't scream "professional" and "heavy duty" - yet surprisingly doesn't weigh a ton. It's just very well made. If I had a nit... it'd be that it doesn't collapse to a shorter length - but for what I use it for it's better than anything I've seen or read about.

As soon as the damage is cleaned up and the house is repaired here, I'm going either for a Kessler crane or a VanceJib to round the kit out and I'd have no fear of the sticks not being able to perform with all that weight on it. Even if I'm riding it in an attached chair on tracks.

Hey guys!
I have the Bogen / Manfrotto BO055XDB legs. Do you think it's safe to use it with Kessler 8ft cranes? I can't fit their kpod tripod in my budget. I have the DVX100B and planning on getting their monitor and rocker control. Thanks!

A loaded KC-8 can weigh around 50 pounds (crane itself is 20 pounds). I believe those sticks are only rated for around 15-16 pounds. I would not recommend putting it on those sticks, for your own safety.

Hope that helps.
