Triggering Video Record @ 20 feet at 90 degrees

We are looking for a wired or wireless remote that will allow us to trigger the record function of our 5D mkII and/or 7D. We are planning on wing mounting our 5D to a powered glider and would love the ability to control the record cycle during our aerial shooting.

So far we have tried the
Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3 - does not allow for video record
Canon RC-6 Wireless Remote Control - you need line of sight for IR to work, which we do not have
DLSRBOT Iphone app - requires line of sight as well.

Any other options out there???

Use something like this with the DSLR.Bot:

Hi there, I'm the developer for the dslrbot app, in regards to activating the record on the 5D markII or 7D, you could use the DSLR.Bot application and just extend the wire of the Infrared transmitter and strap it in place so that its always facing the Infrared sensor. What I do sometimes is use a rubber band around the lens and infrared transmitter, its pretty crude but it works. I'm actually getting some straps manufactured for this purpose so to replace the rubber band.

heres the DIY instructions to make the infrared transmitter..

to extended it just just need a stereo heaphone jack extension cable, something like this.. (please make sure its stereo because it need both left and right channel to work)

hope this helps,
