Tried and Failed

hmm....i tried encoding about 100 different times..and i'm still not getting even close.

i dontknow what to do

Render out an AVI from Premier. Then What I did was QTPro:

Video: 500kps/High Quality
Audio: 16mhz PCM

I got 43 megs with this. The audio turned out to be the bear with mine. It was a HUGE part of the file until I toned down the quality.

i use premiere 1.5 and exported dv avi. i then brought into QT Pro and exported h.264 -- i just followed the settings others posted on here, fairly painless process. now the uploading was another story... but i'm going steady at 95.10% now...

Just stumbled upon this thread, I'm so glad you made it, I've seen how hard you tried and how much care and I would have been heartbroken to see you not complete it for that reason. as soon as I read the first post, I was ready to give you my number and walk you through the compressor process. So, in short, good work handsome!
LOL on that last line! That gave me a laugh that I desperately needed!!!

Thank you ALL for your comments and concerns. I had NO IDEA that I was going to stumble at the finish line!!! I am going to practice compressing in every manner I can to find the best quality and ease. That was ridiculously scary.

And it didn't help that I haven't been to bed since Friday! I did get 2 hours yesterday morning when I finished my score and tipped over on the couch! My wife was sweet to wake me with a couple of delicious breakfast sandwiches as I headed out to work the symphony. All the while, I wanted to be home doing CC before submitting. Needless to say, THAT didn't happen!

I want to thank Brandon for offering me some outstanding CC tips... I wished I could have used them.

Next time. Next time.

Speaking of which, I can't wait to start a new film! Having a little bit of withdrawals today (in my sleep deprived state!)

Thanks again everyone.

I am looking forward to ALL OF THE FILMS!!!

You got it man, anytime. I am just happy you got your film in on time and whatnot. Looking forward to it! :)

No doubt. I was so frazzled this morning. And when I friggin finished an hour and a half long compression process through Compressor only to have NOTHING THERE, NO FILE, NOTHING! I lost it. I actually had a tear come out of my eye!

I just couldn't believe that I actually completed the process of saying to myself, "A film fest? You should do it!" Then doing it. Having a blast the whole time doing it. And then be at a complete loss at how to upload, compress and such.

It seems so crazy now. And I still haven't been to bed yet. I imagine that I will fall over sometime soon. :)

the default path for compressor is somewhere in your 'path' i believe. ive done the same before but did a simple spotlight search and found the file

Ted!! My man!! I'm glad you all everything worked out... I would have kicked someone's !$#, anyones... some random person walking down the street... if you didn't make it into the contest... :D

I totaly would have too! :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

Damn, you dudes are so cool..... I feel like.... it's just... a big ol' family 'round here! :crybaby: :love4:

(well, at least a family that likes each other!!! )

I propose a new law.... Never leave a fellow dvxuser behind!

Man-Law!!! (sorry ladies... I mean you, too! :) )

I think it says something about a person when they take an idea in their head and actually make something come from that idea. Just having the guts to go out there and do it really says something about them...

And I agree, never leave a fellow dxvuser behind... :)

I was going to help John (cinealma) with his film, but on the day he was shooting, my back started to really act up and I couldn't walk... man, I felt so bad that I couldn't help out...

No problem, man. You just missed out on the huge succubi orgy scene, that's all. :)

I hope you're feeling better.

Yeah, feeling better, but I think I'm going to plan some back surgery pretty soon...

Back surgery? Oh, man... that sucks. How old are you?

Thanks Tommy for all the great words and encouragement. Really means a lot.

And I am STOKED that you got something put together and uploaded for our viewing pleasure!!! That is awesome.

Keep me posted on Maliboo!!

Thanks again!

Ted -

Please tell me I read wrong... You can't compress your file?? You lost everything??
What the @$%& was that all about??

From the second I saw your grabs, I said, I gotta follow this guys thread to the end... this was NOT the end I was expecting! Is there some way to get the info on compression ratios?

Matt
