Hey all,

Been away for quite a while, now I'm back. I shot a 2-minute short called Triage last weekend on the DVX, thought I'd share it. Thoughts & comments are appreciated as always. Cheers!

Hey Curugon,

That was a relatively good piece. I did not like the fact that it abruptly opened with that music. I would have put some slug and/or titles before it opened or have left the begining as a clean entrance then as he came running start the music. Overall, nice work. What did you use to make those squibs?

Sorry, I forgot to mention in my previous reply that your footage looks AMAZING. Great shot composition and cinematography. Keep up the great work.

wtf camera settings and cc did you use for this? this **** looks beautiful! good job and interesting story!

Thanks all! I wish it could be longer too - we just had a couple days to shoot.

We essentially shot "right out of the box," meaning no matteboxes or lens adaptors. 24pa, CineLook-D, mostly at 1/250 to up the intensity. Color correction was in FCP HD (3-way color corrector), and compositing was done in AE. There weren't any squibs used, just lots of latex, bondo and movie blood!

Now if I can just find the time to join the Zombie contest.... :(

holy schmoley that looked good. nice work. the acting was a bit ehh... maybe tryng too hard... not saying i could do better or anything. maybe i was going into the middle of it so it was hard to get into it. but it looked really nice. I didn't really like those cg smoke but it worked.

great job!

Looks great, were those steadicam or handheld?

Ancanar looks great as well. Who is doing the visual effects for that film?

Right out the box?? Amazing!! I've seen bogus footage shot with all types of equipment but I guess talent is truly in the hands of the holder.......

Loved the camera work and pacing, but it was too short man give us more. And it looked like they were in Iraq or something with those mortar rounds going off while they were running across the parking lot there. Last time I checked bank robbers don't use mortars.

that war really great. i looked like something i would enjoy on the big screen. that actors were even good!

was that squeeze mode or did you add the black bars?

Nice. Was this supposed to be taking place during the bank robbery in heat or is the music coincidental? Nice tracking on the dirt explosions, looked real.

Thank you again!

Yes, I should have prefaced this by saying it's not supposed to be a self-contained story. Just a two-page excercise, a chance to dabble in a bit of medicine and action.

Moving shots were either on the back of a car or Flowpod (cheers EVS!). We're doing our own VFX on Ancanar. (for those who don't know, we shot the recent development trailer with the DVX)

No, most robbers probably don't have access to heavy artillery. ;)

It wasn't squeeze mode (I've found it cuts out way too much resolution), just 4x3 with a matte on top. Hopefully I can save up for that anamorphic lens....

The music is temp - yeah that's a great track from Heat.

Ancanar is being shot on HD or 35mm correct? I mean, it seems like with a $20,000 budget, you would shoot the film on, well...film...Or is the whole film shot on the DVX?
