Travel w/HPX and tripod

I am flying to Cleveland and back on Wednesday and need some advice.

I am shooting some corporate footage and want to carry my HPX vs the HVX. I have the Porta-Brace bag for the camera/batteries, but I would like to bring my Miller CF sticks and Bogen 516 Head. Has anyone ever carried both on board or is that impossible? What do you guys usually do in a situation like that? Just lug the camera and shoot off shoulder? Or ship the sticks and head FedEx?

Thanks!

as long as you make it through the luggage check just have the attendants at the door of the plane check your sticks. they obviously wont fit in the overhead so thats the best way to keep track of them till the very last second. Stuff like that is last into the cargo hold and first out too so it doesn't get buried and broken. I've done it before and all worked out well. Hope this helps!

Thanks guys! I bought a padded rolling baseball bat case today at Dick's sporting goods that just happens to hold a tripod and head very well. It looks like it might even hold a couple of small tripods where the two bats are supposed to go, not to mention a few other odds and ends. I'm thinking I might be able to put a couple of small lights in plastic cases (like a Lowell Pro) and have a whole travelling kit. The bag was from UnderArmour and cost $100. I'll post some pics if I can get it all assembled.

Matt - I'm headed up to an Autodesk demo tomorrow in Bethesda; any chance you're going? Simulistic from Great Falls is putting it on. I just upgraded to Maya Unlimited last week. An amazing program. Now I just need a render farm and I'm all set... well that and a few thousand hours of practice.

We're in the process of rebuilding our render farm. Before, we just had a bunch of our older computers networked together. It will really be nice having a custom system in place.

Also, please do post a pic of the case that your putting together.
