GH3 Travel Tripod and Slider recommendations

Looking for recommendations for a tripod setup that will travel well and work with a smaller slider as well. I LOVE the design and look of the Edelkrone sliders, but have yet to experiment with one. Most of my work has been stationary, so having a less that ideal tripod was something I could work around, and when traveling I've been using the Manfrotto Monopod (561) and have loved it. But, I'm soon to be doing a LOT more traveling, and really need something that I can let go of. I don't have any great photo/video stores nearby to check things out, so was hoping for some recommendations to help my online hunt.

In terms of a slider, I'm looking for something lightweight and portable, providing 1.5-2.5" of travel is plenty. Manual movement is fine, won't be adding a motor. I have a DIY Igus slider, but haven't used it much as it's not very portable, and my tripod has sucked.

Let me know if I need to provide more info. Budget wise, I don't want to spend more than $1000 total.

Before taking my advice into consideration, I'll warn you I havent used both and do not work at pro level or anything near that.

I've been really intrigued by 3 legged thing tripod, travel friendly and sooo versatile. check them out, they have lots of diffrent sets of legs. 3leggedthing.com

And slider wise the Cinevate Duzi really got my attention especially in terms of being small but decent. http://www.cinevate.com/store2/camera-movement/camera-sliders/duzi-camera-slider.html

This may not be a popular choice for everyone, but I like my Edelkrone slider:

It is pricey, but compact and light. I have it mounted to a small manfrotto tripod and it works great with a 701 head on it:

This combo is VERY portable and I use it for a lot of event work. Here is a clip I just used the combo for at a wedding:

What tripod do you have it on?

I have an aluminum Benro Road Trip tripod for casual travel use. Its light, folds up to a compact size, and it works well for camera work. I haven't tried it with a slider, but I suspect it may be OK if your slider/camera/lens combo isn't too heavy. You might look into the Three Legged Thing brand of tripods, as they look to be more robust, but still fold up to a compact size for travel.

I use them all day. Had the edlekrone and the Duzi kicks it's A@# all day.

Do you pull the head off the legs, and mount the slider to the legs and then the head on the slider? In other words is the leveling base part of the legs or the head?
