Travel In Time

Hi guys,

I have this thought that keeps coming back to me, It's regarding the different looks of film throughout time, for an example; stuff from the 70's has a special look to it, the colors, the contrast etc. And 80's stuff has other features that tells you it's fro the 80's and so on.

So the question is if anybody has some settings for the dvx/filters for editing/general tips so that you can make your footage travel in time.....??

It could be really cool to skip the millennium-look once in a while.

Thanks

Sony Vegas has a bunch of presents that aren't great, but they're easy. Also, the Magic Bullet Editors will allow you to control saturation and diffusion as well as fake scratches, grain, and gate weave.

Naturally, faking it is never quite as good as the real thing, but for entertainment purposes, or used sparingly, it can be useful.

Mostly I would say that if you want crappy (ahem, excuse me, "retro") footage, rent yourself a super8 camera and run some film. If anything it'll make you appreciate the ease of video.

Thanks,

I don't think super8 will do as it before it is anything else is super8 and always will look like super8. Im thinking more in terms of color-tone and sharpness.

By the way, I'm editing in fcp5.

Ultimate S/Reel Paks/Celluloid at the VASST site will do it faster/better/less expensively than MB and more easily than figuring it out and doing it yourself.

Lazy is the way to go. :)

Of course, a lot depends on which NLE you're using...
