Can anyone suggest some camera-bags that will fit the EX3 and still be small enough to be carried on with most airlines?

have you flown with this bag?
does it fit in the overheads of smaller planes?

Right...Smaller Turboprops have much smaller overhead storage space than the typical 737. Have a greater chance of crew demanding you check the camera into luggage compartment...GASP. The good news might be...at least these crews take a bit more care in stowing the luggage than the guys loading and unloading the bigger planes, where things are thrown, dropped, and tossed around. I just got a KATA CC-193 for my EX1 for just this reason.

Only flown regular plane and it worked fine. Your kinda stuck, with the EX-3 the view finder makes it hard to fit anything small unless they make some kind of backpack type deal. Anther thing you can try is as soon as your on, ask to store your case in the front hanging bag area, and go on about how your a professional and this back of stuff needs special treatment. Sometimes that will fly...

I had a two week old camera stolen from a checked bag coming back from Fiji. I will never check a camera again.

I have the Kata bag for my EX1, which is actually smaller than allowed by the airlines and it has fit everywhere I've tried it and it still has room for batteries, cables, filters, etc. Its ballistic nylon and has moveable foam dividers. I tried the allowable carry on size for the Pelican type case (1510), but it wouldn't close with the EX1.

Allistar Cook says the EX3 fits in the Kata 196, but I'd always try it at a store first. I have the Kata 193 which is a little smaller. I was still able to fit in a change of clothes with the camera in case my regular baggage was lost.
