I hope Im not having a Blonde moment here, (actually, I was brunette, and at 43, am now bald) But, I just saw a commercial campaign for Transitional Eyeglasses.( You know, the kind that get dark in bright light automatically?) This was the second one I have seen in where they use a Cameraperson to sell the need for these Glasses. They are hauling around a big betacam or something and implying that ProCamera people need the best vision one can get, therefore they depend on these color shifting wonder glasses.
Anyway, I suggest that the manufacturer should send a REAL cameraperson out in the field and try to look in a viewfinder with a pair of those. If it isnt a really bright day, when you pull your eye away from the viewfinder, one eye would be Darkened and the other would be clear. You would look like freaking Ghoulardy. (for those middle age Clevelanders out there)
The LCD or Mini CRT of most broadcast cameras is so bright, it would make wearing a pair of those types of Glasses, a NO-CAN-DO situtation. You would probably need a new prescription from the Fricking Damage those caused to your eyes afterwards!!!
Sorry to post something about nothing here. It just seemed befitting that someone should post a viable complaint. If for no other reason, than simply because they can.
And if any cameraperson gets sold on a pair of Eye Glasses lens's that change colors because they guy or girl on TV looked like a real pro DP, you have a lesson to learn....
Just fun food for thought.
Video production, its all smoke, mirrors and a never ending race to the bank.
