Transformers

This was maybe the worst movie I've seen in over a year. It is EASILY the worst action movie I can remember. This movie was so stupid and so bad and so outdated and so ridiculous and so mind-numbingly AWFUL. Unless you are 14 years old, stay far far far away from this awful movie. I will now go into all the things that made this movie so awful.

THERE WERE NO SCENES
Outside of the very first scene, there wasn't a single scene for the rest of the film. There was nothing resembling a setup, an attempt to resolve something, and then a conclusion. It was just random pace-challenged bits and pieces that blurred together. In the middle of "scenes" we'd jump into another "scene" and I don't remember a single moment where there was quiet in the film.

THERE WAS NO STORY OR PLOT
Michael Bay's idea of a story is to let Shia LeBeaof go Vince Vaughn Swingers style, run without a script, and try out his Laugh Factory routine, then intertwine that with Transformers transforming. That was the whole movie. Shia riffing, transformers transforming. Nothing else happened.

THE TRANSFORMING AND TRANSFORMERS WERE AWFUL
When they transformed, little bits and pieces would come out of nowhere! The cool thing about the real transformers was that they really transformed. Everything you saw in robot form really did transfer into a car. But they had 8 million things that would come out of nowhere that were never on the car. And the robot versions looked 8 times bigger than their vehicle counterparts. And then stupid-ass Michael Bay (and I really do officially believe now that he is the worst director in the history of directing) could never just straight-on watch the transformers transform. He had to do eight 360s around every angle of the robot whenever they transform, eliminating the chance to actually SEE how the vehicles transformed. Man is this guy an idiot.

PULL BACK THE CAMERA YOU MORON!
There were only two times in the entire movie where he pulled back the camera and was still while watching the robot carnage and those were the only two cool moments in the movie and they only lasted a few seconds.

MICHAEL-BAY'ISMS
Does this retard have any original bones in his body? If there weren't any robots in this movie, IT WOULD BE BAD BOYS II! He used every single exact shot he used in that movie. Every single piece of music. Every single movement and beat. This guy is so f*cking dumb.

THAT BOOMBOX MINI-ROBOT THEY STOLE FROM THAT OLD MARS MOVIE
What the hellll was that???? Why was it in the movie? Why did it make noises that turned the movie into a comedy club? Did Lucas direct this robot? This was maybe the stupidist thing I've ever seen.

I did not think that any director with a key to the ILM tool shed could f*ck up a Transformers film , but this guy f*cked it up so bad, that I will never ever see a Michael Bay movie again for as long as I live, even if it's called, "This Movie Was Made Only For C.G. Eads". He is a worthless worthless director and ruined this film.

I thought it was perfect...it's exactly what a modern Transformers movie should be...well, maybe a little less product placement. I'm not defending the movie or Michael Bay (whom I'm not a big fan of), but this is a Transformers movie, and if you've EVER seen the cartoons, then the homage-ability of this movie nullifies most of what people are complaining about.

come c.g. you couldn't just shut your brain off and enjoy. i did and I enjoyed it more. yes the plot isn't there but the fun is. I was smiling the wole time. realizing the hard work that went into the transformers sows, (it took over 30 hours to render one frame of the robots)

Yep, I liked it as well.

According to Lorenzo di Bonaventura, working out the transformations was done with the help of a mathematical equation, which explained where each of the parts of the robot went when it become a vehicle.

I don't know man, but I think the transformations were pretty incredible. And they worked really hard to make them realistic, assuming that it was possible, how would it really look and work.

Get a grip. The transformations were great. I admit at times the camera was a little jumpy, but dam dude. Did Micheal Bay use to take your lunch money at school or something. Lighten up. It was a very good movie. There is alot he had to work with in this kind of picture, and for him to have made so many changes and the movie still worked. Just give the guy a call, I'm sure he'll reimburse you for the cost of the movie ticket, and for the lunch money he took from you.

You are so wrong! Frenzy was a character from the original transformers series, He was a cassette tape. But due to the fact that cassette tapes are currently out dated he had to come up with a current day replacement. A small cd player boom box. In the original cartoon series he combined with a large boom box call Sound Wave. All they did which was smart on his part was combined the two into one. Very smart move.

Sorry Spidey. I really wanted to like the movie. But like I said, there was nothing good at any turn for me. Why couldn't he pull back and actually let us see the fighting? You were okay with having no idea what was going on? I didn't even get into the atrocious dialogue because it's not even worth it. This guy says it better than me and I agree with 100% of his review.

C.G...If you can't just sit back and enjoy a movie like this then I don't know what to say. I consider myself to have pretty demanding tastes, and have absolutely hated most of Michael Bay's work (except parts of The Island), and even I was won over by this. Maybe I was pummeled into submission. All I know is if I find myself smiling and laughing during a film as much as I did during this one I take that into consideration when assessing its merits...Why when I read bad reviews about this film do they always sound like they were written by someone that had been planning their own version of the movie in their heads for years and are pissed Michael Bay didn't follow their script.

I agree Shia was pretty good, but the movie wasn't funny, unless the whole token black dude humor is your thing.

Nothings wrong with being a critic, but that could of have been left out. Why even would your mind even go there?

If you agree that Shia was pretty good, then you have to have found him funny. I sure did. Most of his lines and actions were humorous in nature. And being that the movie was built up so much around him, and being that he was in so many scenes it would lead one to believe that the movie was pretty funny.:)

You know what this movie is like? For want of a better metaphor, it's like a smokin' hot blonde with big hooters that puts out like you wouldn't believe. She might be dumb as a shoe and I wouldn't want to marry her, but she's great for a few hours of insane pleasure.

Took my younger brothers to see it last night...Had a blast. I am very impressed with the CG interaction with live action elements. The shot of the soldiers running, with the decepticon emerging from the dust cloud was amazing.

The reason that I didn't enjoy the movie as much as I could have is that I'm too attached to the 80's cartoon.

I mean, how could they kill of Jazz, he was one of the few (perhaps the only) G1 characters to survive.

And as a poster stated earlier, the Transformers were always about the robots and the human characters were secondary! I don't understand how they couldn't develop the personalities of the robots more. For example, the relationship between Starscream wanting to usurp Megatron.

Ironhide was portrayed nothing like his character in the cartoon (giving him a British accent, COME ON!).

I hope that in the next film they decide to focus on developing the individual personalities of the robots more.

What made the Transformers great is that the robots seemed to vary as much in character and personality as the humans did.

I agree with most of this. Although I did like the way they transformed. Nice to see someone that sees the movie for what it is. Crap.

Although what C.G. Eads said could've been a bit more... err... less angry... He disliked it, gave plenty of reasons why he didn't see it like the others.

Also nothing wrong with him talking about the Token Black guy.

Movie was fun the second time around as well, but not in the way that we all hope to make 'em. =P With a great plot.

Every so often though, there's nothing wrong with breaking out of that.

Now these are point that I can agree with. I do feel that the characters of certain robots like Star Scream were under played. I didn't want to give away the fact that Jazz got killed, but I was hurt by that too. But I guess if it go a rise out of me that means he did his job.

I loved the movie anyway.

star scream will be in the next one more. plus if you noticed star scream was bad as just in general.

I enjoyed it.

I think Bay makes entertaining movies, but I've heard that he's hard to work with. I know an AD who worked on Bad Boys II, and I actually talked to Shia LaBeouf the day after I saw Transformers, and they both told me that he puts his crew and actors through a lot of difficulty and is often unreasonable and short-tempered.

Not to mention, he uses about 10 or 15 different units shooting at the same time, so I question how much actual directing he does.

well all his movies come out looking like MB films so i think mb visually put everything into commission before crews head out...

i hate MB but i liked transformers alot and i dunno why but its just fun fun fun.. yes th plot could use work but shia is gtreat and the robots fight are great and well its the best cgi i've seen.
