Transformers 3 extra may die...

Oh wow! That's terrible. When I first heard about this, I was told it was a stunt person. Not the case, though.

Man. That's horrible. Every BTS thing I've seen of Transformers over the years has a bunch of stuff flying through the air.

Here is a shot from Transformers 2 where a piece of debris is launched way off course. I'm pretty sure that wasn't supposed to happen. When I first saw the video, I though the reason the people filming were talking about "I'm not sure that was supposed to happen" was the car landing inches in front of the picture car, but it looks like a huge piece of metal was launched off the roadway. Though there area was clear, and I'm sure they did everything they could to keep people safe even if something went wrong, it goes to show that if everything doesn't go perfectly, people can get hurt. Since she's not a stunt person, I'm wondering if they might be looking at some legal action...

There better be! If I was her family I'd sue Bay and Bruckheimer for every damn cent. Nobody should have to die because of frickin' movie...just so the director can satiate his 'splodo boner.

But isn't there some consent form you have to sign that says that the company is not responsible for damage to you or your person?

There used her personal vehicle, and were towing the car with her in it. There are SO MANY violations of standard stunt protocol in that it doesn't matter what she signed. She was an extra. Not a trained stunt person who assumes a certain amount of risk. From deadline hollywood--

I received this email from a confidential informant: "An extra doing stunts in her own car with a tow rig? Holy shi* is somebody's head gonna roll over this one. SO many things against industry standards, don't know where to start! Bay should be starting to sweat right about now. 30yrs of motion pictures and never seen stunts poo poo up this bad.

This is Vic Morrow in the Twilight Zone bad...Side note, I wasn't aware Jennifer Jason Leigh was Vic's daughter until just now.

I heard from a source that Bay's sets are ALWAYS the most dangerous... just kind of goes along with his persona I guess....

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken a stunt man died on Con Air. Plus labeef almost lost an eye on the last one. I'll say it once and I'll say it again, damn you Michael Bay.

I was just going to link over deadline's report. I was under the impression something landed on her car, which is why I linked the aforementioned video.

After looking at Deadline, I don't know. That's pretty terrible someone would allow that to happen. Actually, a lot of people would have allowed that to happen.

I'd imagine an indemnity form was signed and she was made aware of risks. It's like anything else you do. But I don't know if there is a separate case her for negligence. But I'm not a lawyer. So I am kinda just thinking out loud.

They could dedicate the film to her...but then she would have
fecking Transformers. Part. Three. Dedicated. To. Her.

I thought the same thing, that the car wasn't supposed to get that far, but yes a huge chunk of debris went flying off.

There are forms, but they only cover so much. We use them on are film since many of our actors do their own fighting, but reasonable car must still be taken. This looks pretty bad.

I'd sue Michael Bay for making his entire body of work.

It would be terrible to die for a Michael Bay movie. That's one of the worst ways. Drowning, stabbing, and Michael Bay movies.

Was reading more on this:

Wow, $25 a day to use your car? That's kind of bullshi*...
A production is allowed to hire actors to drive their own cars, though they are not supposed to be involved in stunts.

$35 is the normal according to the the 2009 SAG - West Coast Background Actor rates. Chicago might have different rates.

Normal or not, it's still bullshit money to use your own car.
