Transferring with HDMI port?

Im sure this is stupid, and I doubt its possible but I was wondering if there was anyway to transfer using a DVI -> HDMI cord? I assume that since its a video/audio digital cable it has no transfer capabilities or would probably be slow if it did but thought Id ask anyways. I get my HMC tomorrow and I'm assuming the best way to transfer is USB? I didn't see a firewire port in any pictures which I thought was odd since DVX was firewire 400.

No, HDMI doesn't work that way. You can play out with HDMI and capture it on your computer that way, but you can't do actual file transfer with HDMI. Also, the reason it doesn't have Firewire is the AVCHD protocol just doesn't allow playback over it, so there wasn't really a point to add it I'm told.

You can always go out and pick up a USB card read for pretty cheap if you don't want to hook up your camera.

Mike is right. I use a USB card reader and works really well. In order to capure from HDMI you would need a capture card that can handle that like the intensity card.

ya i figured was just one of those questions in the back of my mind, ill just use USB thats fine.
