Transferring video to scratch disk

Hi, i'm new to FCP and using FCP 6. I just shot a short in HD on HVX201 and transferred the P2 footage onto an external drive connected to my PC laptop whilst on field. I have a scratch disk connected to my mac and was wondering what the best way of getting the footage from my external hard drive to my scratch disk is? Thanks in advance.
 
Use FCP's "Log and Transfer" to get the clips into a project, and to move them to your scratch disk.
