Transferring to BetaSP

I will be filming a commercial in the next couple of weeks that will be airing on one of the local networks. Once the process is completed I will be transferring the output to BetaSP for broadcast. This is the first time I have done this & was wondering if anyone has had experiences (good or bad) with this. I will be filming with the DVXB.

All of my work has been output to DVD, VHS, MiniDV or flash.

Just curious as to any surprises that might be comming my way in the way of color differences or image degration. I have been assured that the transfer from DVD to BetaSP will yeild no differences by the rep @ the transfer house but would appreciate any input from users here with experience in this matter.

thanks,

Steve

Did the transfer house request DVD? Personally i would think a miniDV recording of the timeline via firewire would be the best way to go in this situation.

The transfer house said that MiniDv or DVD transfer to BetaSP would be the same. I asked them that very question with the same thoughts thinking that MiniDv would be prefered, but apparently not.

In my experience, mini dv master dubbed to Betacam SP would be better because DVD is compressed further.

If possible, a DV deck with component out to component in on the Beta deck would be best.

If it were me I would want to go the route that Gregory suggested, miniDV to Beta rather than DVD to Beta. Maybe try going to your local Public Access station or similar and see if they can help. Most smaller stations are likely to have Beta and miniDV.
