Transferring project to new Laptop and then back!

Where can I learn to take an exiting FCP STUDIO 2 project from my Mac Tower at home, put the project in my new MacBook Pro (That has the same FCP program), edit away, and then put the changes back into the tower?
Thank You, Max: :embarasse

Not much to learn, really. As long as both computers have the exact same version of FCS2 (both have the same updates and all), you won't have any issues.

Simply transfer your project file to a USB jump drive, and then copy your media drive to a portable FW drive. Make sure that your portable drive has everything that your working media drive on your tower has (especially if you are using any graphics or audio files that are not in the Capture Scratch folder).

When you open the project on your laptop, you'll have to reconnect the media. This won't take too long.

When you're ready to go back to your tower, put the new project file on your USB jump drive and transfer it to the tower and open the project. Again, you'll have to reconnect the media, but it should all be there.

By the way, if while editing on your laptop you add any media at all, those new files will need to be transferred back to the tower's media drive.

And the FW drive, by the way, is assuming DV material. For HDV or DVCPRO HD, you'll need FW800. Any higher codec, and you'll want eSata.
