Transferring from DigiBeta to MiniDV

just curious what is the best way to get a DigiBeta tape transferred to my cature disk. I dont have a DigiBeta deck so I have been transferring the Beta to MiniDV. Is this ok? Do I loose any quality? Any suggestions?

You will loose quality since DigiBeta has more color space and less compression than MiniDV. Of course the big question is what are you finishing on? If it's DVD you're in the clear since it's going to get even more compressed than it is on the MiniDV tape anyway by the end.

If you are finishing on something with less compression or higher color space you might want to look into what it would take to work at a higher format. How much footage do you have. Could you rent an digibeta deck or do you know anyone who has access to one (probably if they work with one since they are quite expensive.) Also you might want to talk to a transfer house and see if they would copy it directly to a firewire drive for you.
