I am new to the whole P2 world so excuse the simplicity of the question. When I am done tranferring my footage from my HPX170 through the firewire port how do I get the camera back to the "camera" function? I am holding down the button on the back of the camera until it says 1394 connected.

You should read the manual. Get a card reader and P2CMS to transfer card media to the comp and verify the transfer. You can use USB mode with the cam as well.
When you done? Turn the camera off. Unplug the cable. Go shoot some more.

that's what I have doing. Just wanted to make sure that that I was doing it correctly. I loaded the software that came with the camera to transfer footage but I can't find the application. What I do is open the medi and drag both folders into a new folder on the hard drive.
Are any other p2 card readers besides the one the panasonic sells for $350.00? Crazy! I use an iMac.
