transfering minidv tape with different camera

Hi guys, i am new to the forum, and not sure if this is the right place to pose this question.

I am doing my first short horror movie in Feb or march or the new year. This is a typical no budget shoot, and i have enlisted the help of a couple of DP's for free. They both have different cameras, an XL2 and an DVX100.

first, will the footage be dramatically different from the 2 cameras?

and second, will i be able to transfer the tape to my computer with my consumer minidv camcorder?

1) They will be different. How dramatic it is will depend on the settings. And you probably won't get an exact match, so I'd say, plan accordingly. Use the different cameras for different styles of shots or scenes with different moods.

2) Yes.

Thanks...

I think i'll try to get 2 dvx100 cameras instead, or just fix it in post.

I'l need to use both cameras at the same time to cut down on filming. I'm filming in a tourist area, and don't want to do too many takes with a ton of distractions around, and stopping foot traffic. So it will likely be 2-3 takes, master, 2 over the shoulders shot at the same time if possible, and some coverage.

Glad to know i can use my "cheap" $600 home camera to transfer the film. It would be a ***** to have to transfer it from their cameras after a long night of shooting.

Ok, i was thinking that as well.... plus both DP's will be on the same wave length, no, "my camera is better than yours!" bullshit, lol

Thanks for your advice.

Oh yeah... what if the two good cameras film at 24p, will my shitty one still be able to transfer it properly?

Or should i shoot at 30, and convert to 24p?
