Transfering Footage from DVX100 to Computer

Hi,

I'm very new to all of this, so I'm sorry for this question which is clearly amature. I just got my DVX100B, and I'm hoping to shoot with it and then transfer the footage to my Mac laptop for editing. I assumed that the procedure for transfering the video to the computer would be covered in the Instruction book, but it says nothing about that.

How do I get the footage onto my computer? First of all, I assume I need a DV cable (because of the DV port). But could someone briefly instruct me on the basic proedure for getting my footage onto the computer?

Thanks so much for your help,

CB

same thing, as long as it's an editting program.
try to searchi the keyword (capture video or capture tape) in the editting program's help section.

A brief explanation is to hook up the 4pin side of a firewire cable into your camera and the 6 pin into your computer. Turn on computer & camera. The video program (imovie, fcp express) has import/capture features. Find these and then you will be able to control your camera from the software. Then you can tell the software when to start capturing the footage. I would definately read the FCP manual. I don't know about express, but FCP studio had easy to read and understand diagrams with all this info.
