Transcoding in Avid 2.8

I'm having problems transcoding 720p30fps footage to DVCPro50. When I open the HD footage bin in the 30i project and do the transcode the clips turn out stretched vertically. I'm using MC2.8 on a macpro laptop. I thought I could transcode HD footage into SD and edit in the same timeline as SD footage but the image is getting distorted.

Any helpful suggestions?
 
Make sure the 30i project is 16:9? Or do you want that? Because 720p is 16:9 anamorphic. If you want 4:3 letterboxed, not sure how you are gonna have to transcode that. But that is why it is stretching.
