transcoding AVCHD: something I never thought of

I'm happy with DVCPro HD only because it seems so much faster to create the transcodes. I wasn't actually timing but as I recall clips took 10x realtime to go to DNXhd using CS4's Media Encoder on my Core 2 Duo (2.5Ghz) laptop. Panasonic's DVCProHD transcoder, on the other hand, goes at about real-time.

For my home and for my business ,I only buy Panasonic products. I hate Sony. They have to make everything hard and exclusive. Over priced pompous jerks.
1) Sony Vegas is not original Sony's product.
2) What editing software does Panasonic make or at least staple with its name, which is worth using?

Panasonic is bundling Grass Valley Neo with some of the AVCHD cameras. This is a lite version of Edius. Neo has a booster pack (out in Japan, late Nov in the US) that supposedly allows several streams of native AVCHD editing.

Is it a Panasonic's own product?

What? That's ridiculous. There are tools for this game that Panasonic simply don't produce (like an NLE) or a digital cinema camera. If you are going to limit your purchases to Panasonic only purchases, you're in trouble already.

Who made your PC? Who made your lens? Who made the media you record to?

Calling Sony overpriced is laughable when Panasonic had P2 user by the gonads until Sony's SxS was released.

Oh and by the way, I have 2 Panasonic cams, 2 Canons, and 1 Sony...

That's just plain foolishness...

I tend to much prefer Panasonic cameras to Sony's... but that doesn't mean they make bad cameras (I just like the "Panny Mojo"). I also recommended the Sony Z5 to a friend over the HMC150 or HPX170 because he needed firewire out and wanted tapeless but didn't want to fork out a ton of money for P2.

I also love my Sony 1080p DLP.

Really, judge each product on it's own merits. Banning Sony or any other manufacturer because they do something with another product line unrelated to the type of product you're looking at isn't very smart, and could ultimately lead to you buying an inferior product.
