Transcode A7S footage

Hi there,

I'm currently preparing the post workflow for a shoot which used several cameras.
I just found out that the XAVC from the A7S (which was used for some insert shots)
has .mp4 as a container (is that correct?!)

Now, as Davinci Resolve doesn't support .mp4 I have to transcode it to ProRes. I am
not very familiar with transcoding. Could I just use the Media Encoder from Adobe
for a Pro Res conversion?

Or how do you bring A7S footage into Resolve=

Thanks for helping me out.

Cheers

Resolve 11 handles XAVC files from the A7s just fine (and the FS7). I've used it very recently on this.

What version are you using?

But the FS7 doesn't use .mp4 as a container as the A7S does, right? I thought Resolve doesn't support mp4, though I will try out tomorrow then.

Resolve will display video from the files fine but with no audio. If you need the audio in Resolve you can simply rewrap the mp4 files to Quicktime, no need to transcode the actual video/audio streams.
On Windows you can use ClipToolz to do this: http://hdcinematics.com/convert-V2.html
