Train Tracks and Back Alleys - More Brevis 35 Tests

Bob raises a good point. Some 35mm lenses are terribly soft with fully open apertures. I've seen a few tests posted using a Nikon 50mm that showed startling differences in sharpness at the edge of the frame by stopping the lens down from f1.4 to f5 or so. Shooting test series through the adapter using digital still functions, at 3MP, the images still look very crisp. If a Brevis adapter is showing any softness, the first things to check are back focus, and the 35mm lens aperture.

On the issue of pre AI Nikons...I don't believe that the bayonet mount has changed, nor would there be interference issues with or without the AI "dog ears".

Longer lenses should behave exactly as they would with film with respect to magnification factor. The Brevis uses a full 24x36 (and with a fast lense, potentially larger) frame size.

Incredible footage. I'm leaning very heavily toward getting a Brevis (when my wallet permits). :)

You know, it seems to me that each of the 35mm adapters gives a differnt feel. I like how subtle the brevis is. Just amazing, and I think it makes the image soft enough to pass for film.. hmm Maybe he is tricking us? Maybe it is film that he transfered to digital and is fooling us... hmmmm :) GREAT FREKIN' Job. You are the man, all your work is just so sweet!
