Trailer for Sundance favorite, TANGERINE, shot on iPhone 5s

The only criterion for success is success. I think I understand Patryk's comments. Seems to me like how a symphony conductor might comment on Katy Perry. Different paths.

The arguing here is kind of silly. iPhone or not, the trailer just didn't do that much for me. I thought "meh, doesn't look that great to me." I do have some sympathy for the notion that it may be getting more attention than it otherwise would because of the format it was shot on. But, what can ya do? Things that haven't been before will always get more attention, there's nothing wrong with that. I don't think that means the filmmakers sold out, that's just nonsense.

Regardless of the marketing and Iphone factor, I watched the whole thing. that's saying a lot. I don't make it through a lot of what i try to watch these days. This was actually pretty good. I have to admit when I saw the preview before I really didn't think it would be something that I would like. but after reading y'all going at each other here, I thought i'd give it a shot. I'm glad I did. Pretty simple story told with lots of fun energy. The tone was great. I can't say anything bad about it really. If I made this film, I'd be pretty fricken proud of myself. Looking up the writer director, I remembered Starlett another film written by this guy I enjoyed. He's doing a lot of things right here. Can't we just leave it at that?

For a film whose supposedly sole claim to fame is that it was shot on an iPhone, it keeps gathering accolades. Here's another one:

Indie Focus: The best of 2015 includes "Mad Max: Fury Road", "Tangerine" and more

So it's not just Rolling Stone who think that both Mad Max and Tangerine belong on the list of best of 2015. Geez, I'm sure tastes differ, but it doesn't seem it's a very rare critical acclaim for Tangerine - great number of critics not merely noticed it, but gave it very, very high marks. One can only imagine that quite a few filmmakers would be over the moon happy to "sell out" so well that they end up with this much critical acclaim.
