Here is the trailer for a short movie that I just finished shooting.

It was shot with the HMC-150, stock lens. 720, 24p. Some very slight color correction was done in Apple Color (I'm not much for messing around with my images too much in post).

I just edited a rough cut clocking in at around 18 minutes. I think I have a bit more editing to do, to tighten up the movie and make it funnier, but overall I'm happy with the result.

I hope to see more movies shot with the HMC as time goes on. It's a great camera, and I think it's leaps better than the HVX. Having worked with both a lot, I'd choose the HMC anyday. Plus, converting to Pro Res is actually easier than DVCPRO-HD, so it's win win.

Nicely done. Very engaging - definitely makes me want to see the whole movie! Nice to see this type of thing done without a 35mm adapter.

I agree with rich, great trailer...

Cant wait to see the whole thing... what are they all going to do? :)

Btw, what's your SCENE settings? Your footage is so clean yet full of details and no clipping of highlights.

I shot everything in the CINE V setting. I think the reason I came out with clean footage has more to do with lighting then scene settings. We used two kino-flo DIVA lights as our major sources (with daylight bulbs). This was supplemented with natural window light and an occasional light sources from an additional lowell light kit (which were gelled to blue). Our white balance was set to 5.6K, giving the whole thing a warm look (suitable for a comedy).

In other words, a lot of light is the answer to clean footage...

Yeah, I also want to see more "movies" shot with this camera. Or at least more short films.
Congrats on the trailer, to do that in 18 minutes is pretty darn good. It shows the essence of the film, it shows the storyline, and it's funny.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but for any of those interested, here is the finished movie:

I was hesitant to post it online before it premiered at a festival. Now, that it's done that...I can breath a little easier. All in all, this project was a great learning experience that I had a lot of fun working on. Made a ton of mistakes, but hey, that's why I keep doing this sort of thing.

Really a nice job! Congrats!

The images were very clean, well lit and very nice for being just a stock lens. Audio was on point. Only watching it once, I did notice the camera op was a little behind what seemed to be the pace of the scene a few times and focus might have been a little off once... nothing big and overall a great piece. Liked the story and depiction most importantly.

Appreciate it. Believe me, there are a TON of camera mistakes...not enough takes...not enough coverage. You know, the usual problems with amateur films.
