Here's link to the trailer for my upcoming feature film titled, "Mnemonica"

All comments welcome as I am still tweaking the footage for maximum impact

I will give the low down on the project as soon as I have an available second

Thanks

It started off well but as it went on I got confused. i think it needs more structure or you go the other way and make it a teaser where you don't have to explain anything.

I like the use of DOF in most shots,it looks fine ,i would shoot most takes like that if possible and avoid all in focus takes. You could also use slow camera movement during DOF shots. With small sensor we are limited to zooms ,you could maybe invest into 35mm adapter.

Original and strong. Keep up the good work, Adam. I really like the look, the acting, the characters .... You're on to something here. Good luck.

Thanks for the encouraging words.

We started this project a little over a year ago. But the big battle is just ahead; selling it

I need a killer business plan; developing one is not my strongest point.

Ive learned a lot reading through this forum over the last year. I'll put this knowledge to use in the coming months as I figure out my best course of action.

Thanks again.

Chris

I needed to password protect the trailer for licensing reasons. The password is "BuckyKaps" for those here who wish to leave feedback

This trailer had good footage. Probably among the best of stuff posted on this site.

I liked the crisp and differentiating lighting (very noir-ish). I can't comment about acting and characters yet because i haven't seen much about them. Overall, i can see you have spent time filming this project.

How many weeks/months did it take? What was this shot on?

Good choice of title. Gets the attention. Good work.

Chris,

Well the trailer got me intrigued to know more and figure out what the heck is going on with the main character, so in that regard it did it's trick. It had some creepy tones to it, which I liked.

My only critques would be... for some reason I didn't like the shot around :46 where she looks through the key hole, doesn't look as nicely lit and composed as the others, but this is a minor compaint on my end. Also you carry over the girl's dialogue into the shot around 1:14 where a girl is laying on the floor with a book, it's a great shot and all, but because she is talking it feels like it was a shot with a bad dub in it.

Good luck with the business plan and selling it.

By the way, did your footage get stretched just slightly taller for Vimeo, it kinda looks that way but maybe I'm crazy.

Thanks for feedback, and the kind words regarding the footage.

It's funny, my girlfriend said the same thing about the girl with the book and the "dub" look. That's easily correctable. Thanks for pointing it out...I'll fix it.

The feature was shot using the HVX200, no adapter. I shot 720PN. Lighting was pretty basic. An Arri 300 and an Arri 150.

We started this film a little over a year ago. And while there are still three more scenes left to shoot, I had enough edited material to cut two trailers [the second one is being finalized)

The film will run about 90 minutes

I took my time, raised money, filmed, raised more money, filmed some more. It was an interesting and exhausting process, for sure. But Im happy with the results.

We were quite lucky the have Bob Dorian and Joe Rigano join the cast in featured cameos. Mr. Dorian is the former host of AMC, and is quite known in the business. Mr. Rigano, of course, is probably best known for his work in Scorsese's "Casino", plus about thirty other features.

My next move is to raise funds for a website, and to cover promotional materials and festival submissions. I'll also need funds to pay for the festival rights for the music I want to use. If I cannot secure an affordable price, I will write and compose the music myself.

It really caught my attention, my friend, although all of a sudden at 0:35, the direction of the trailer suddenly transformed from dramatic and mysterious to something which I find very... unexplained. It felt like a comedy all of a sudden! or maybe it is a comedy and I didn't get it?

I would really like to see more of the first half!

Definitely not a comedy, although there are dark comedic elements.

You're probably feeling that because the music Im using, while demonic, is upbeat

Definitely, my friend — the music and the editing that's based upon it. :)
