Trailer for my new film

Awesome! I am going to watch it again at home, but from what I saw the color looks great, motion is great and did I see some Action Essentials 2 in there :)

thanks guys. yes stock DVX and colour graded in premiere.

yup...action essentials :)

thanks for watching.

One thing I can add after listening to it (didn't have sound on earlier) The sub machine gun sound needs to be louder, it is quite dull.

Love the shallow dof you got out of this camera in certain spots. I loved the tracking shot at 0:27

Nice work.

This was not shot with a DVX, I refuse to believe it, What in camera settings did u have, and what do you use for editing on premiere, good job nontheless

lol hey maloney. yup all dvx baby. I'm jumping to 7d camp this year but will still shoot on my dvx. in camera I shot really flat. I've been researching alot on 7d and superflat settings so i said why not apply that to my dvx. So everything is zeroed except detail level which is -4 and master ped is +4. Cinegamma D or Cinelike D (something like that) cuz that gives most dynamic range according to barry's book.

Grading was done in Premiere pro CS4 with brightness and contrast, 3 way colour corrector, tint and i bumped up sharpness some.

And export settings i use this....http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/images/cs4.jpg (click to enlarge).

Appreciate the feedback :)

People think its good and thats nice and all but until i run it by you guys who actually know ur stuff and are in the biz...i'm never fully satisfied , so i really appreciate you taking the time.

I just got the 7d, but I still use my DVX and like you I've applied this super flat theory to retain more dynamic range, it truly works, I shot part of this video and color graded it and a couple other people who do videos called asking to rent my 5d, lol. But what I've learned concerning the dvx is that, if you have good, decent or managable lighting, if you shoot flat, I even lower down my shutter speed to the 100s depending on lighting, it will give you more filmic like results to where u could closely mimic the hvx and if you have some decent grading skills, even the 7d sometimes.

But let me ask you this, why do you turn your master oedal up instead of down don't u lose alot of black

yeh i decided to go up with master med to increase the dyamic range (resulting in a more washed out look giving more detail in the pic) instead of down to crush the blacks. Any crushing of blacks would be done in post.

Yes you are right about the lighting and the dvx...i remember watching one of your videos with this girl against a white background and it really looked good (i think it was your video at least).

check this out if you havent seen it. this is the sort of look i went for in cam...super dull and washed out..so thats why i upped the master ped.
