COMMERCIAL: Trailer for my horror film He Brings Death

Hey Bolin. Congrats on making a feature! That's a huge deal and i'm sure was a fantastic learning experience.

As for the trailer, it's big issue is that it's way too long/repetitive. What the trailer really boils down to is this guy killing people and that man talking about how that's all the guy does.

I really like the first interview with the man talking about how the killer hears this sound in his head and the only way to silence it is to kill. I genuinely think all the trailer should be is that interview, intercut with scary/intense images of the murders. And when he ends his speech with "he belives it's his sole purpose on this planet", end the trailer. There's frankly no need for it to be longer than 1 minute. You could add in the snippet near the end where the man says "he brings death", that would be a good way to end it.

The reason for drastically reducing the length is to add tension. Unfortunately as the trailer is, it just goes on and on with so many shots of weapons, people running away, murders, etc., that it really drags and kills all tension. Shorten it greatly and don't give away too much. Always remember that the best horror films are the ones where the villains are not on screen all that much. This makes them all the more terrifying as we never get used to them.

On a side note, please for the love of God change the font for "Bolin Media". Papyrus is a big turn off unless you're making a fantasy film. Big big design no no.

Congrats on completing your feature! Huge accomplishment.

For a trailer it is definitely too long. Just try to capture the emotional essence of the story. Let the viewer's imagination fill inteh rest. Also, I would try not to show so much of the baddie.

And...Papyrus is the kiss of death.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the input :) As for the font, I know what you mean... I used it for the company logo years ago, that's the only reason I went with it for the trailer.

As for the other stuff, I see what you guys mean. I initially wasn't even going to show the killer from the front at all.... but there were a couple shots I liked. I might do A 1 minute version and cut it down a lot and see how that goes... and change the company font... Didnt know it was so hated :)
