Hi everyone! I wanted to share the trailer for my first feature film, "The Mix-In." It was shot using a Sony V1 and a Letus Extreme, and was edited and onlined with both FCP and AE. This was shot in 27 days, which includes 2 days of re-shoots with a micro budget of just $6200.00! It was edited for a Sundance rough cut (which was almost exactly the same as the final cut of the film) in just 18 days including all visual effects and color correction, and has a running time of 90 minutes! Everyone on the film worked incredibly hard to pull this off. The link will take you to the flash version of the trailer, but there are other versions, including full high def 1080P, if you click on the 'Trailer' tab at the top of the page.

I would love to hear some thoughts or if you have any questions feel free to ask! Thanks!

Hi Knuckles,

Just watched the trailer, and thought it was good, it gave me a good indication of the film. Looks like a heist-comedy, which are always fun. Good look with any festivals and congrats on getting a Feature completed and especially on such a little budget.

But, I would say that the trailer felt a little long for this film. It kept going round and around without giving us anymore, and I found my attention drifting away.

Not sure why you thought no ones made a feature for cheaper than El Mariachi. Many features have been made for less. Just not too many with much success.

Trailer was a bit el-longo. I liked it though.. looks like all the hard work paid off! The sound quality was pretty sweet as well.

You do realize that the embedded vimeo video isn't flash though right? Like.. not at all flash?

:bath:

We are well aware that others have been made, but to hold the record (which El does, tied with Primer), you need to win a major film festival, which is our obvious goal.

From The vimeo website:

"Adobe Flash is the underlying technology that makes Vimeo videos play, and keeps the moon in orbit. On most computers, Flash automatically upgrades itself to the latest version, but that doesn't always work. Sometimes broken Flash installations can cause problems, like totally black or white videos. If you're having trouble, removing and re-installing Flash will often help. We always recommend running the Flash remover first, since it's possible to have multiple copies of Flash installed, which can cause conflicts."

Thanks for the compliments though!

It's funny, it does seem long, but the original music it was edited to made it fly by. One thing I have learned is that music definitely makes the difference lol.

Nice work, man. I agree with the others...the trailer sort of loses it's steam towards the end (starts out pretty cool though). I think it could be tightened up a bit.

And, even after watching the trailer I must admit that I still really have no idea what the movie is about. Granted, that may have been your intention, but just thought you should know.

Best of luck with fests! And, congratulations on finishing a feature. That ain't no small task.

I really like your shots, and your acting and scene selection look good.

I thought that the music though was a little hokey and gave it a cheesy sort of feel. I would definetly think about changing some of that.

I mean that music is ok if your going for something goofy, but you seem like your giong for humourous semi-relism, i almost got even sort of a noir feel to.

Color correction was pretty good.

I say redo the trailer with some better music and repost, id like to see how it feels then.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I really do appreciate constructive criticism. The film has actually had 2 major scenes re-worked because of the great feedback I got on the rough cut, and the film now plays so much better
