I just got a phoone call from a very close friend and business affilate who just informed me that his beloved HDX900 With fujinon (the 18K one) lens, panny 17" HD monitor, six Anton Bauer batteries, Marshall 7", cavision mattebox, oh man this is painful to list....Macbook pro, and 3 full days of footage all goooone!!! Luckily he was insured, but we all know in the end you can still get reemed by them as well, so needles to say we're trying to get the buzz out to our good ol' panny comunity to keep a watch out for a big "sale" that matches the list above. I know it's wishful thinking but in times of desperation well you know....thanks for reading. OH by the way this was in down town Seattle Wa. in broad daylight??? It happened at 10 a.m. Thursday June 26th. If anyone has any info or has any suspicians contact me, or Jeff Boyer info@jedamedia.com

Thanks

Go to the police with ALL the serial numbers you have on record. Go to pawn shops and do the same. WATCH ebay like a hawk.

The gear WILL show up somewhere... probably not the package together, but definitely in pieces. Even if they're film people, He/She/They will eventually try to sell off at least one item they don't want for extra cash.

Also interested in how this all got stolen? out of a vehicle?

Ouch, that hurts. I'm in Seattle and will keep an eye out for it, I was just downtown today and debating the safety of leaving my HVX and gear sitting in the car. Fortunately mine ended up fine, but I was also just off of Pike Street Market, so pretty busy.

All the best of luck finding the guys who did this.

Sadly, busy doesn't matter. My wife had her stereo stolen out of her car at about 2PM on Central Park West. People everywhere.

Thanks guys...I know Jeff would appreciate all the great advice. A little more info for the cam and other stuff

HDX900- Here's the serial #: J6THB0206 R.
The lens is a Fujinon 18x7.6 BERM-M48 HD w/x2 extender.

not sure about the serials on the monitors quite yet.

To answer all who were curious about how. Jeff talked to a cop in Seattle who informed him about stocker thieves. They will literally follow you from place to place (he was at a public zoo shooting initially) then will wait for a moment of weekness to make their move. Unfortunately the story is he went into his brokers office for a quick chat (10 to 20) and that's when the stuff was stolen out of his fully, well so called fully secured tahoe (locked up tight with alarm etc...) These guys really new what they were doing becuase they managed to break in without drawing any attention to the vehicle. Lesson, don't ever, ever leave your stuff in your car downtown...Scares me how many times I've slipped and done the same thing. We're actually from Spokane and he brought all his gear over to Seattle for the shoot, and to view dalies.

I've always thought we should have a stolen gear area in this forum. Drop your stolen gear info into a thread with city, date and major component(s) in the title and details within your post.

Everything for sale in the marketplace should include S/N data in order to be sold there. Nothing is perfect, but it will certainly discourage some from trying to peddle stolen assets here.

Good luck to your friend. That's a devastating loss.

Man, that sucks I'm sorry to hear that. I also like the S/N idea - it would also help to keep fake/counterfeit items off the list.
