Traditional camcorder to complement a 5d2 and 7d

I am looking for a traditional camcorder to compliment a canon 5d and 7d. In the past I have heard that it was difficult to mix footages from camcorders and dslrs together (I use adobe premiere for editing). So I am hoping that things have changed. My primary use of this camcorder is for recording long wedding ceremonies, speeches and also as a general backup. Budget is around 1k usd (used is ok). Does anyone with experience they can share?

Sorry it's outside your budget but I use a Canon XF105 to supplement 5D2/5D3 for weddings. The colours match well & the extra resolution of the XF makes it very good for a wide locked off unmanned camera. It has the XLR audio for hooking up decent mics (I use Sennheiser G3 wireless).

As nigelbb said, the XF camcorders can match pretty well with canon DSLRs ( I use XF100 with 60D/600D) but they re out of your budget...perhaps you could find a used XA10 which is the closest image wise to the XFs and has XLRs...but I doubt you can find one for less than 1500$

The xha1 is the best match for older canon dslr's, they have similar color and sharpness and contrast can be tweaked to look similar. I have a short film where I used both, t3i-xha1 intercut, and it looks pretty close. If your interested in seeing I will be happy to provide a link. Granted the xha1 is long in the tooth, it can be moderized with a compact flash recorder very easily.

I'll second the suggestion for a Canon XA10, i borrowed a friends XF105 and it was really nice and if i where shooting on video cameras for something other than the ceremony and speeches these days it would be my choice. but..... the XA10 is better in low light by about a stop and is cheaper. it still has XLR audio and is by far the best video camera I've ever owned. Better than my old XHA1 and the Pani HMC150.

On i side note its durable as heck. i actually tipped mine over on a tripod while it was recording. it hit the ground hard but never stopped recording. the fall actually bent the cameras frame but the video is fine. it won't quite sit on the tripod square so i have to compensate a bit when i level it but seriously it's tough as nails.
