Trademark Spike Lee shot

Spike Lee's famous trademark shot, where the camera is fixed in front of the character and it tracks back. It was used in 25th Hour and Inside Man on Denzel Washington.

Do people know how I can replicate this shot? What type of equipment I would need? The camera I will use will be the Panasonic HPX170 w/ Letus Extreme Adapter.
