trade fx1 for fx1e

If I was to sell my fx1 and get a eurpean model, what difficulties might I run into in the shooting editing process? Any at all? I assume I would need a pal monitor when doing field work? What about outputting to a dvd for viewing on televisions here in North America?

I look at the work done in the european model, and the footage looks so much more like film.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

The european model is superior in so many ways. For starters the 25CF is damn good, albeit loosing resolution, but still looks excellent especially when downconverted to SD. I don't see a problem with having a euro model, you wouldn't need pal moniter unless viewing in SD..in HD, no you wouldnt need to worry about moniter, anyway it doesn't matter, 90% of moniters these days are pal/ntsc compatible. Also you can shoot in 25CF and convert to 24p pretty easily. But you crazy americans always have to be different, why did you decide to do 24 frames! 25 is such a nice rounded number!

Americans didnt decide to do 24fps, they decided to do 30 (60i) ! 24 is actually the frame-rate of film, standard throughout the world.

playback

playback

I was also wondering if the fx1e could playback on an american tv directly using the component output... is analog hd universally compatible?

!!!!!!!??? Who told you that 24fps is the standard for film throughout the world? It's not.

Okay thanks guys. Before this thread goes way the hell off kilter, anybody have comments on outputting PAL shot footage onto DVDS for play on NTSC televisions here in North America? Is this a problem..are there issues?
