hello. new here. this is probably a dumb question, i've been searching the site... i got my anamorphic adapter last week and have been shooting (love it). i've been trying to play back 16:9 on the toshiba tv, from the camera and also from premiere and can't seem to get it to unsqueeze. it shows wide in premiere, but then not on the tv hooked up. what to do?

Re: toshiba tv

Are you sure the TV even handles 16:9? Most don't, unless the video is coming from a DVD player, which will do the letterboxing for you, while DV cameras will not.

Re: toshiba tv

I must say the 14 inch toshiba is awesome, a bit of a pain to get it calibrate but it is awesome.

Re: toshiba tv

just saw the tv at Best Buy the other day, and the only to go to 16:9 was by pressing the 16:9 button on the remote. Did you get a clearance deal or something, I mean, how did they not give you the remote?

Re: toshiba tv

What Best Buy did you find this at? I've been trying to find one in the LA area for a couple of months. The 14AF43 has been discontinued and is supposed to be replaced by a new model.
Thanks for any help in finding one of these.

Re: toshiba tv

Looks like the 14AF43 has been replaced by the 14AF44 (not sure of the difference.  I know the 14A43 has been discontinued (which doesn't have 16:9 option BTW).  The 14AF43 (and all AF models) have the 16:9 mode I believe.  I use the 24AF43.  The Best Buy's in the D/FW area had all the models in stock the last I checked, but this was prior to the 14AF44 model.

Re: toshiba tv

kplo, they still sell the 16x9 version at the Fairfield,CA Best Buy. If the 16x9 model is being discontinued, I better get one of those babies before they're gone!!

Re: toshiba tv

I just check, the new Toshiba 14AF44 remote does have 16:9 option. I haven't have time to play with it yet.

By the way Goo, how did you calibrate this monitor? :-/

Thanks,

Re: toshiba tv

Its funny how popular this TV is! I bought one back in October when I got my editing system. The thing that intrigued me the most was the 14inch flat screen with great color and an abundance of jacks on the back including S-Video and Component jacks. Something you will hardly see on a small TV like the Toshiba. The $150 price tag at Best Buy wasn't bad either!

Re: toshiba tv

I've got a 14AF43 too and it rocks for a little set. Component inputs on an inexpensive 14"--amazing. Toshiba makes some great products. I got the SD-5109 DVD player when it first came out--it was one of the first progressive scan DVD players (with progressive component out!)--it's still going strong. I also have a Toshiba widescreen HDTV--Toshiba was one of the first companies with a full widescreen rear projection line. Their sets were also the brightest. One good consumer electronics company--for sure.

Re: toshiba tv

That TV is just INSANE.

I, too, have a Toshiba prog DVD player, and it blows the socks off high-end Marantz or Pioneer Elite machines at about a third of the price . . . best purchase I ever made.
