Toronto DVX Users Group

I'm new to the DVX game and would be interested in getting in touch with others in the Toronto area. Am interested in learning more about the whole DVX thing and would be interested in trading services as 2nd cameraman on shoots, etc.....that and any other interesting ideas you guys may have.

Re: Toronto DVX Users Group

Wow, there's lots of us! Let's seriously get something going here. I think everyone knows that there are a lot of opportunities for 2nd camera, networking etc.

Maybe everyone should post a little profile or mini-bio or something... I'll start.

I'm a second year film student with experience in short films, television series and music videos. I've got a DVX100A and full post setup. I would be interested in any jobs or positions in the GTA. If anyone needs a second camera etc. I'm your guy.

Re: Toronto DVX Users Group

I live in Toronto, and I own a DVX 102ae - its the PAL version of the 100a, with the capability of recording 25p. Along with the camera, I also own the anamorphic adaptor. I also have a pretty impressive lighting package: three Lowel Totalites, with two photoflex softboxes, a Molescent BIAX 2'x4 bank flourescent fixture, and an assortment of small open-faced lamps. Lastly, I own a full post set-up, that has the capability of processing PAL footage. Transferring PAL footage to NTSC is also possible for finished projects - I use the Nattress conversion filter, and it takes forever to process video, so I only do it for finished projects.

If shooting in PAL isn't something you're after, I own two Sony DVCAM cameras - the DSR-PD 100a, and the DSR-PD 170.

I have some of my work posted online if you'd like to check it out.

Re: Toronto DVX Users Group

Hi guys,
Well I would like to learn from you guys, and if you need any help on a shoot please let me know. I'm a cameraman at a t.v station and do wedding videos on the side for friends and family. I'm saving up for my DVX100a, I use Final cut pro with my G5. I'm still a rookie with Final Cut but learning along the way. I would love to do a short film someday but it's hard to find people who would volunteer. I live in Toronto and my email is ncicione@rogers.com.

Re: Toronto DVX Users Group

I'm in Toronto too. I've got a pretty decent setup. Lots of lighting gear, and dolly. I've also got an anamorphic lens. I edit at home on FCP. Just finished shooting a corporate video for redTO.com. Let me know if you guys ever need to rent something.

Re: Toronto DVX Users Group

Hey guys,
I'm a filmmaker here in toronto. I run a studio here in the toronto area. www.gearshift.ca

We have full prelit greenscreen/bluescreen studio with betaSP, digibeta and HD capabilities. Full post/animation suites as well.

Lions Gate released my first feature,"My Brother's Keeper" in theaters this fall. I am looking into shooting some new projects on the DVX and possibly even purchasing one for the studio. Would love to keep in touch with you guys.

You can watch a trailer for the film at www.mbkmovie.com

It was shot in 35mm.

All the best.
