Top-Handle Record Button

It was rainy today, so after a talk with Darren Levine, another AF100 owner from NYC, I started working on a record button that could be mounted on the camera that would be accessible when hand holding with the top handle. Anyway, this is what I came up with for now... it is easily reachable when filming, does not impact the use of the top handle, and mounts to the screw holes for the forward mic holder... I will post a little DIY on it later, but it is based on the design on www.dvxuser.com/articles/remote... the hardest part about making it is soldering the wires to the 3/32 jack. Anyway, I still need to work out the best routing for the cable, find a smaller enclosure, and would like to add some other functions, so will probably make an improved one in the coming weeks when I get a chance. Also, have parts to make one that can sit in the cold shoe almost flush using a 2.5mm tall switch... just did not have the patience to solder it with the dollar store soldering iron I had today... Thanks again to Darren for brainstorming with me.

p.s. the yellow tape on the handle is something I do to mark my cameras, it is not part of the box...

Good post olly, i just got finished testing as well, i hacked apart a walkie talkie headset and attached a switch. works perfect! interesting thing to note is that there are 2 sets of 2 leads, assumably a 'hot' and a ground on each, and the SS works with and only just one set, other set isn't needed. i'll get some pics up when it's prettier, here's the video....
