Took a DVX camping...

Re: Took a DVX camping...

That was nice and tranquil. Thanks. I felt like a just took a lil camping trip and without having a score actually helped. :)

Re: Took a DVX camping...

I think this might be the best thing ever posted on here.

Re: Took a DVX camping...

Very nice... Very nice... I kept waiting for an omniscient sounding narrator to come on and talk about something profound :).

BTW, what settings did you use to encode that clip?

Re: Took a DVX camping...

Where did we come from? Where are we going? How much will it cost?

Thanks!

This site, particularly the screen grabs/clips section, helped me in my decision to buy the dvx100a. I simply wanted to contribute.

At first I was going to leave the dvx home. You know, use it just for "film making" (got to get on that) and bring a smaller 1chip auto - camcorder. Then I thought, what's the point of having this camera if I don't use it in every situation. The images I brought back made it all well worth it. Although I did find that the camera small enough to bring along but a little too big to carry around. I would like to find a good camera backpack for it the next time I go. If anyone has suggestions.

I used quicktime: 360 X 240

video: mpeg4 - best - FR 23.98 - Key frame rate 30
audio: mpeg4 - Stereo - 48 hz

I am using Premiere 6.5 so I can't utilize pulldown. Hence the size. I'm working on that... which takes us back to the top.. third sentence.

Man that was so peaceful. I cant get over how great this camera really is. Man I need to save alot faster dont I? I need to get it for myself!

Re: Took a DVX camping...

Wonderful. Did you need to use a polarizer for the shots of the sky and wide shots in full daylight? I am having trouble getting my iris/ND filter settings right with this camera in full daylight. I tend to underexpose images. Thanks.

Re: Took a DVX camping...

The only filter was a UV throughout. ND was set on 1/64 all the time so I could open the iris as much as possible. If you are using the Auto Iris for a light meter (which I do) or if you choose to rely on "auto", I find the preset 24PA setting of iris -3 a little dark in some situations. If you are using the Scene file F5 or F6 as is, you may want to play with that setting.

Re: Took a DVX camping...

what were your settings?

thanks

Re: Took a DVX camping...

I've seen some amazing film clips, commercials, music vids, etc. on this site, but this is the most winning endorsement of the power of this camera I've seen. I've been in the deciding stage up to now, but I think you've helped me make my mind up. Cannot beat the dvx. :)

Re: Took a DVX camping...

Thanks for the lead on the backpack, I'll check it out. Brandon, the clips on this site helped me decide on the dvx.. without a doubt, I made the right decision.
