The pink blocks stuff looks better than the banks and ledge stuff. They look cool and it would be interesting to see how the footage turned out. When I look at the shots some look to be a little blown out and it would be nice to see you use a shallow DOF. Were these shots locked off or were you following the blader in the shot.

Re: Tons-o-grabs from a competition this weekend

i was following the blader, trust me, it would have been awesome to have the control to have a shallow dof but it was impossible. My goal was to get every single good trick layed out and when you have 10 people per heat and you want to get EVERYTHING it is impossible to get a very solid shallow dof without missing most of the tricks. All I really hd time to set up was an initial file setting and white balance. The reason why the pink ledges look better then the bank to ledge is because those were shot in the middle of the day while the bank to ledges were shot during sun down so my surrounings were constantly changing and seeing how i was tight on time i did not have any time to keep on optimizing my camera to the lighting.
this was by far the hardest thing i have ever had to shoot, it was extremely hectic, if you saw the raw footage youd understand.

thanks though for the input

btw, what do you mean by saying were the shots blocked off?

Re: Tons-o-grabs from a competition this weekend

besides the fact of the they way you posted, the shots are ok,
i used to do a lot of taping and editing of the fruit booting, i mean inline skating, here in MD DC area mostly
it got to be extremly repeatitive and many many hours of tapes....I would recommend geting a little titer on the skater
there is too much empty space on them, work or your rule of thirds, try to have each frame of video look like it could
be its own picture.....overall the look is good

Re: Tons-o-grabs from a competition this weekend

Aaron, I asked if the shots were locked off. I asume that's want you ment to say. What I ment by that is did you just have the camera in one postition for that shot and have the skater come into the shots instead of you following him.
