"Tone of Voice" short film-comedy

Re: "Tone of Voice" short film-comedy

Good stuff. Great idea. Hope you had as much fun making it as I had watching. Keep up the fight.

Wow. Thanks everyone! Seriously it's great to hear people like it. I think we all need a pat on the back from time to time. :) At least I do!

I've sent it to a few festivals and I'm waiting to hear back. Not sure how that will go. This was my first real project and I've never had anything in a festival.

This weekend I'll post a smaller version, but it's probably gonna look like dookie. I'm still a newbie to web compression. :-/

Thanks. I agree the opening shot is too noisy. It was the best I could do. I actually just darkened it in post, and for some reason that added a lot of noise. Spent a lot of time on it, but never really got it good. Any tips for darkening with less noise? I'm using FCP.

For the sad flashback with the cool blue look I basically raised the whites, crushed the blacks, desaturated a little bit and moved the whites a little towards blue.

The DP I worked with is total pro. Best $200 I spent. He's actually DPing TV movies for the Hallmark Channel right now. And the light kit rental was only like $120 / for the day.

Thanks again
Bill

I suppose the best way to not have that feedback is to 'light it for night'. You gotta give those chips something to latch onto. I didnt see a window in the room so maybe you couldnt have the faux light from the moon coming in, or maybe you could have?

Its easier to crush everything if you have an image from the get go. Could always re-edit and open just as the door opens up (using a Fade In?)

IMHO

Nevertheless, It is a very solid and definatley keeps your interest throughout. Again, very well done and from a story/edit perspective, its one of the best Ive seen on this site.

Well done my friend. I thoroughly enjoyed the piece. Very original, which is always hard to do these days.

Congrats, and good luck in the festivals.
Keep us posted.
