Tolerance Trailer 2 - Need Feedback

Okay everyone. We finished the reshoots this weekend for the Tolerance Trailer. Not only did we get some amazing shots, but I re-edited the cut from some of the feedback that I got from some of you, and I am pleased with it - theres a line of audio that I want to re record, but other than that, I think Im happy with it. We have been given a chance to send our trailer to Lion's Gate, and I am going to send this off after Christmas, so any feedback on the new version would be greatly appreciated. Some of you said the pacing was too slow, so I cut some and hopefully it moves along quicker. Also, for all those still in debate about the XL2 vs. the DVX, our trailer was filmed with both the XL2 and the 100a, so check out our trailer and try to identify what shots you think are from each camera.

A lot better, however there are still some dead spots in the trailer which just make it feel weak. The most noticable weak spot is at the 21 second mark right after the "have they talked yet?" line, it's just a few seconds dead space with hardly any noise - it should either be cut quicker or some more effects added in, e.g. footsteps as the guy walks towards man tied up in chair.

Also, the line after that which ends with "nobody leaves alive", the first part of that line is inaudible, cannot understand a word of it, and "nobody leaves alive" is only just understandable. Maybe cut the whole part? If too much of a sacrifice, get rid of the first part of the dialogue and leave in "nobody leaves alive".

Most of the sound effects are pretty poor, sounds like the kind of thing a 12 year old puts in his movies when he first discovers how to download sound effects. Maybe try and foley some more realistic and better quality sounds?

The part where there is (what appears to be) voiceover of the man talking in the lead up to the shot of being handed the bread, then we hear "thank you" as he's handed the bread, doesn't seem to gel properly - the "thank you" line sounds exactly the same as the voice over, but I assume it's meant to be live sound of dialogue of him in the cell?

The moment between 0:47 and 0:57 is really good, except it's ruined by a poor transition of soundtrack into the next bit.

The sound effect of the kick at 1:01 should be fiercer, more intense, right now it just sounds like a lovetap and really detracts from the intended PUNCH it's supposed to give.

At 1:18 when it cuts to the gasoline being thrown on the guy, it could probably be cut together a bit tighter, seeing the full motion of the guy throwing the gasoline feels weak because he does it so lightly, maybe have it so that when it cuts the first frame is just before the gasoline leaves the box (then repeat, cause he douses him a few times), then cut to cigarette being thrown (maybe slow down the shot a bit?).

Sorry about completely ripping into this... they're only small things, but things that I felt left the biggest holes that prevent it from being a really good trailer.

I love the shot of the guy screaming, and I also love the shot at the very end for the 'Tolerance' title of the fence. Very cool.

Thanks for being brutal. I rushed a little bit on the audio last night so could get this up for you all to see, but I am going to work on that today. Some of it was that we didnt have the same mic as we did the first time, and I wasnt able to get as much. But I will work on that and also once I run to the post office I can sit down and pick it apart again. I was tired last night too, guess I probably should of slept on it before putting it up on here. Oh well. Anyone else please be brutal. We need to make this the best it can be for Lions Gate. Thanks
