Tokina Lens on AF-100

I just got our Nikon to M43 adapter and tried out the 28-70 Tonika lens and the FOCUS ring doesnt seem to work?!! Is this a bad lens or am I doing something wrong.

FYI: When I first turned on the camera I had the black scree so I had to turn lens check off.

the focus ring isn't engaged. Pull the entire ring towards the camera and it with click into place.
