The story is that when some Nikon lens engineers broke off to start their own company, Tokina, they used the Angenieux 28-70mm cinema lens as the formula for this lens.

I have a 28-70 f/2.8 Canon FD lens that this would replace nicely. I'm definitely on the fence over this. - Tim

But I can still see this ad, so I want it to still be available :-) Just out of curiosity in case I see this lens for sale elsewhere, how does it work with the FS-100? Some kind of Nikon to Sony E mount adaptor?

Yeah, you'd have to use a mount adaptor. I use a Nikon to Micro 4/3. It's an awesome midrange zoom to use with a mattebox! Thats why I bought it.

With the F3, FS100 and AF100 (anything without a Nikon mount) you would use a lens adapter, then it works great. You'd want the Nikon to E mount, but be sure to get a good one. Its a great lens and a lot of bang for the buck. Really close to the Nikon 28-70, which costs $1,500-$2,000.

I think you mean the Nikon 24-70. The old nikon 28-70 can be had for under a $1000.
