Does this mean the stills lens manus have finally discovered there's gaping holes in the PL lens market, just ready to be addressed by them?

Sure hope so.

Seems so. I bet 2013 will be the year of affordable cine-style lenses from most still lens companies

If its near as good as the 11-16mm they'll have something.

I'm sort of laughing at the Reduser crowd. Their snapping up Rokinon cine lenses just like the rest of us "peons", although a couple of posters called them soulless lenses. I guess they like blur and tint better.

The thing is the Rokinon lenses are made for modern Hi Rez photography. That suits the Scarlet and Epic resolution just fine. Some of the older cine lenses don't.

My thinking is I'd rather have things sharp edge to edge. You can always soften it in post if you want that feeling.

Well they are pretty much a no brainer because of price alone for anyone I'd say. That being said, older lenses with character really shine on the epic. Imperfections are beautiful on such a nice sensor.

grrrrr..... anyone want to buy a brand new Optitek Prolock? Just kidding - I'm sure I'll keep using it and keep adding to my lens collection.... although now I'm waiting on buying the Rokinon 24mm until I see a price and availability on this one.

Note, it's the 16-28mm, not 16-50mm (which would have been a much more useful focal range IMO).

Great to see stills companies getting into the cine-lens realm. If they can give us the mechanics we need - everybody wins.

woah nice chunky lens there. I like it. Maybe they'll bypass the conversion thing and finally just make that 11-16 in PL too

Why the hell do they have to make it so big!? I don't get it!?
Look at the Duclos 11-16 even geared, etc.

I like good, even expensive glass, but I'm in for a set of Rokinons for sure!

The 11-16 is made for APS-C sensor, the 16-28 covers the full FX frame. So it needs a larger lens.
For F3 this is overkill.

I have the Tokina 16-28 EF lens and it's a pretty nice performer. I'm encouraged that Tokina is getting into the cine game.

Nice !

Definitely on my wishlist, and that would be awesome if they did the same with their new 11-16 DXII !

I'm waiting for a list price though...

bigger the better. More light, less imperfections can be seen, more light, better focus travel, more room for complex mechanical movements inside to insure no breathing and other things associated with zooms. I see no problem, and most top end glass is large. Master Primes, Cooke 4/i 5/i, ect ect... And those are PRIMES, which have much less mechanics to deal with than a compact zoom. I welcome large size. It's quality and less likely to be an issue for servicing. Bigger parts have less problems for the most part. Its when you make things smaller that you have greater risk of malfunction.
