Tokina 11-16 F2.8 F-Mount and Novoflex Mount

Any tips to putting the adapter on? For instance, should the Tokina 11-16 be wide open or stopped down completely before putting the Novoflex adapter on? Which means I need to get a Nikon SLR first?

Nikon mount lenses (and Alpha lenses) spring back to their smallest f-stop when they are off-mount. You don't need to first mount it on a different body to change the iris. But if you have a Canon lens - you would need to.

The Tokina 11-16mm is for Sony alpha mount too! so; if you can adquire the LA-E2 adapter you can control the iris with the FS100.
For me, the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 is a must have lens for any lens collection.

I just picked up some Canon FD lenses from eBay based on the feedback on this forum. Since I don't have a Canon and I want to use these lenses on the FS 100, will the adapter (Canon FD to Sony NEX) do the trick for opening and closing the aperture?

FD lenses have manual aperture rings so aperture control on the adapter is not necessary.

Hi Xenogears, I just bought the LA-EA2 adapter. I'm waiting for the firmware update for the FS 100 and I'm about to purchase a Sony 50mm 1.4 A mount lens. Could you share your experience with the adaptor?

What is the absolute closest focusing distance of the Tokina 11-16 and at which focal length?
The minimum focus distance is 30cms something like 12" at 11mm

Until the firmware for the fs100 comes no autofocus with the LA-AE2 just aperture control as the LA_EA1, but the aperture control is very precise with my 3 alpha lenses; the Tokina 11-16mm and my recently buyed lens the Sigma 17-50mm and the 70-200mm booth comes with optical stabilization activated with the LA-EA2, i tested on the FS100 and the Nex5n.

@xenogears: i'm looking at the LA-AE2 adapter also. Question if you don't mind:

* Let say if i buy the sony A mount lens, put on the adapter, how do you control the aperture? via the FS-100? or via the adapter? how is it work?

thanks

Optical stabilization with the FS100 + LA-EA2? I couldn't find this anywhere on the specifications of the adapter about stabilization. "Is this, for real?"

@Bubble: The aperture is controlled by the dial switch on the camera and this will be reflected on the screen info.

@FuGz: I think the Sigma lens are the only one with Optical Stabilization for Alpha mount, because Alpha series cameras has OS on the body so none of Sony Alpha lens will have OS, only Nex lenses of course.

Here is a test from someone else with the same Sigma i have, i think is from a user from here at DVXUser:

sadly my camera is in a production this days so i don´t have it with me to make a short video with this.

If I understand correctly, you are using the LA-AE2 - could you please shed some light on the F3.5 max aperture gossip? Can you open your lens more than that?

Yes moldcad; you can adjust your lens at max aperture, the 3.5 gossip as you says, i think is must be with the continuous auto focus function, something that is not possible at the moment we must wait for the firmware to check it out.

Thanks. The firmware update is when? March?
Without the update LA-EA2 is the same as EA1.
I've been reading Shawnlams advice on lenses. He has been very helpful and I've learned so much from his articles (Thank you Shawn if you're reading this). What do you feel are the best lenses for the FS100? Why? If you have an LA-EA2 adaptor, will parfocal still be an issue?
I'm thinking of buying: 80-200 F2.8; Beercan F4; SAL 1650 or 1680; Carl Zeiss 16-80 F3.5-4.5 ?
Thanks
