To use the 100b to import or not

I was wondering if anybody could please give me an opinion about whether I should get a small camcorder to import my material or wait. Currently I'm shooting a docu and I will have twenty hours of stuff to import in the end. Should I already go out and get a second inexpensive camcorder for importing into my camera or is twenty hours of material not enough to worry about quite yet?

Thanks.

Yes.

try ebay for a good cheapo

Does the cheapo camera that I'll use as an importing deck to my computer have to be able to accept 24p or can it be any ol' consumer camcorder that can read timecode and has firewire?

The DVX captures the 24p at 60i (I don't know if I said that right), but any cheap camera will load your footage. 24p has nothing to do with playback so just get the cheapest camera you can (I use a GS9 from Panasonic for $125) and you're golden. The weird thing is that camera ends up having less hours than your DVX even though it's only used for capture.

Simple answer: Any camera can handle the 24p footage and import it. Your NLE will determine whether you need to remove pulldown or not.
